I Am In Pain: Neha Bhasin Reveals Her Battle With PMDD, OCPD And Fibromyalgia

In her lengthy note, the 41-year-old singer shared the physical and mental challenges she has been facing. She expressed that although she had long suspected something was wrong, it was only with recent medical awareness that she received the correct diagnoses and appropriate treatments. This realisation, she noted, has led her to accept that her nervous system feels broken.

"After years of knowing something is off, finally comes the diagnosis, which helps get the right treatments for mental and hormonal illnesses. And with all of this comes a major realisation and then the acceptance that, at least for now, my nervous system feels broken," she wrote.

"My monthly PMDD still finds a way to throw me in an old, dark hole or dig many new ones. Is this my failure? Asks my OCPD. It flares up what my doctor calls fibromyalgia, which now I am finally accepting too. I have worked out, danced, and performed through pain for years, thinking I'm just tight, so stretch more. My therapist says to do nothing for some time. REST," she explained.

Neha described her experience with monthly fatigue, body pain, mental anguish, anxiety, depression, and past traumas. She emphasised that despite her efforts to manage these conditions through cognitive therapy, yoga, social interactions, and journaling, her PMDD continues to cause significant distress.

Despite the pain, Neha expressed a sense of gratitude and resilience. "I have been in pain for decades, but I am pushing through it all, living my dreams, and propelling forward like a warrior. A girl living her dream... I have no conclusions yet. All pain is real to the sufferers, and right now I am in pain. Loads of it."

Neha Bhasin Criticises Society's View on Ageing Women

Earlier, in a conversation with SheThePeople, Neha shared how families and doctors have helped normalise discussions around mental health. Moreover, she passionately advocated for a society that doesn't label women based on age, emphasising that India still struggles to accept confident women who embrace their age without being tagged as "Budhi" or "attention-seeker." She expressed frustration over stereotypes, saying, "They'll say she's going through menopause, she's crazy, she's lost her mind in old age, and they write this nonsense and feed it into your mind. They are not ready for a confident woman yet."

Her message was clear, “women should be celebrated for who they are, not for an idealised image. It's time to stop dictating their worth based on societal expectations.”
