Navarasa Edhiri: All You Need To Know About The Short Film

Navarasa Edhiri: An upcoming Tamil anthology that consists of nine short films. Each of the films in Navarasa based on a rasa or emotion, namely anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace and wonder.

It brings together talented actors, directors, cinematographers and music composers. One of the segments is titled Edhiri (meaning Enemy). Created by Mani Ratnam, the anthology starts streaming from Aug 6, 2021.

10 things to know about Navarasa Edhiri segment

1. The Edhiri segment of the anthology is directed by Bejoy Nambiar.
2. The star cast of Edhiri includes Revathi, Vijay Sethupati, Prakash Raj, Ashok Selvan.
3. This segment of the anthology has Govind Vasantha as the music composer.
4. On July 14, the makers released the song Yaadho from Edhiri. It is sung by Chinmai Sripada and has reached 300k+ views on YouTube.
5. In an interview with &t=898s">The Quint, the Nambiar revealed that he has a stellar cast and a stellar crew. He also revealed that they had a dialogue draft ready but had to do an overhaul.
6. Revathi added that Nambiar has put his hand into emotions for this short film. She believes that he can not only handle crime and action but even silent and serene emotions.
7. The director confessed that the movie gave him confidence to work on similar stories in the coming years. "I want to try and do more stories like these and as a filmmaker, I think it'll help me to learn about the fact that how emotions can be dealt correctly to tell a good story and that's what I want to do going ahead," he said.
8. Talking about her working experience with Prakash Raj and Vijay Sethupathi, Revathi said that the former works with all his heart. About the latter, she confessed admiring him and it working with him was easy. Overall, she had a good experience.
9. Bejoy Nambiar initially wanted to work on the segment Roudhram (anger). But it was later taken up by Arvind Swami. So he chose Edhiri and it worked in his favour.
10. Revathi is all praises for the creator Mani Rathnam. "He gave me an insight which was interesting to portray and after Bejoy had narrated the whole thing, I spoke to Mani. The small input that he gave me, I think that also helped me in carving this character the way it is," she said.
