Every year on August 29, India observes National Sports Day. A day designated to honour the country's sports legends and champions and to recognise their contributions and commitment to bringing honour to the nation. The aim is also to encourage the general population to take up sports and make them an integral part of their lives while highlighting the significance of being fit and healthy, with the goal of increasing knowledge of the virtues of sports: discipline, perseverance, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
In India, there are several outstanding examples of sportswomen who have made a name for themselves in their particular sport. People like Deepika Kumari, Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Mary Kom, and Jhulan Goswami, to name a few, have overcome their own obstacles and limitations to accomplish something that serves both themselves and the country. Considering how compelling these women's stories are, it is not strange that Bollywood has made the effort to help the world learn about the hard work and dedication that led to the success of these legends. We have compiled a list of Bollywood biopics that are based on Indian sportswomen. Each film had a distinguishing element that made it worthwhile to watch.
