Vijay Sethupathi on Super Deluxe
Speaking about his role in Super Deluxe, which the actor claims he begged for, Vijay Sethupathi revealed it took him 50-60 takes to ace the character.
“I can't thank my director and Mitu (child artist) enough. I was begging for the role when the director narrated it to me. I had no idea how to even go about it but I was so interested in the part. I am the kind of actor who doesn't do much homework. My first shot took 50-60 takes because I couldn't find that character in me. My EP bailed me out - she taught me how to stand like a woman, behave like a woman, get her mannerism. The character of Shilpa has been a huge learning lesson for me”, he told Times Now.
In the film Super Deluxe, Sethupathi’s character flees his home, abandoning his wife and son, after he realises he cannot live as a man anymore. After years he returns as Shilpa which comes as a shock to the family. The Tamil film had three stories which ran parallel before intersecting at a point. The actor was showered with praises for his powerful performance.
