Natalie Portman To Star And Executive Produce Upcoming Film The Days Of Abandonment

Actor Natalie Portman will star and executive produce HBO’s The Days of Abandonment, a film based on Elena Ferrante’s novel of the same name.

Author Elena Ferrante will also be serving as executive producer along with Portman. Meggie Betts will be writing and directing the film, will also serving as an executive producer. Portman’s MountainA Films, Maven Screen Media, Crash & Salvage, and Fandango are also executive producers.

The Days of Abandonment revolves around the lead character Tess, played by Oscar-winner Natalie Portman. Tess is a woman that abandons her dreams of having a stable home life and is then abandoned by her husband. The abandonment changes Tess’s entire world and the movie takes a look into the mind of a woman in a crisis. The logline describes The Days of Abandonment as a film that “confronts the norms of motherhood and female identity as Tess traverses the darkest reaches of her own psyche”.

Natalie Portman and Sophie Mas founded MountainA Films to produce film and television projects. Portman is also set to star in the upcoming Apple TV+ series Lady in the Lake. She and Mas serve as executive producers through MountainA Films in the series. Lady in the Lake will also mark Portman’s debuting role in a television series. Portman co-stars with Lupita Nyong’o in the series, which is co-written and directed by Alma Har’el. The series Lady in the Lake is based on the novel by Laura Lipman with the same name.

Natalie Portman is an actor, director, and producer who has won an Oscar and two Golden Globe Awards. Her acting career began at the age of 12 when she made her debut in the film Léon: The Professional. Portman starred as Jane Foster in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor and Thor: The Dark World. She will be reprising her role in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder which is set to release in 2022.
