Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth instalment in the film series is out in theatres. Directed by Taika Waititi the film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson as King Valkyrie, Taika Waititi as Korg and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, and Russel Crowe as Zeus.
In Love and Thunder, Thor finds himself on a bit of a spiritual journey as he embarks on a quest for inner peace. His plans for retirement run into a bit of a snag when Gorr the God Butcher sets out to destroy all of the gods, and Thor has to enlist a few old friends to stop the extinction of the gods.
The audience response to the film is rather enthusiastic, especially for Portman's turn as the Mighty Thor, hence all things considered, audiences are in for a treat with Love and Thunder.
A user pointed out how they loved Jane Foster's storyline in the new instalment. "She was used to be this smart and cool doctor but this time she will have to make some decisions based on not logic but emotion and love. She also kicked ass as the Mighty Thor. Natalie Portman looks incredible," the user adds.
Another user claimed that the film was "brimming with laughs and tears." She writes, "It blows every other Marvel movie out of the water, and doubles down on the Ragnarok charm. A classic Taika Waititi joint, so many laughs and tears, with a moving narrative and beautiful visuals. And those post-credits? OH MY GOD"
"Love And Thunder is electric! A wacky, high-energy delight with a cast full of aces crushing one scene after the next. LOADS of laughs (my face legit hurts), the menace of Christian Bale’s Gorr is chilling, but most of all loved that it’s a film brimming with good vibes & heart," writes a user.
While some viewers appreciated the chemistry between Hemsworth and Portman, a few called Bale's malevolent and sinister act as Gorr a scene-stealer, so much 'better than Thanos.'
Natalia Portman as Mighty Thor
One of the film correspondent's traced Portman's journey in the MCU and said the actor has finally received her due. She tweets, "The best entry in Phase 4 behind Shang-Chi and No Way Home. I laughed. I cried. Then I laughed and cried some more, in that order. Natalie Portman is FINALLY given her due. Dr Jane Foster is more than worthy of being the Mighty Thor."
"Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor truly shines while Waititi delivers an emotional story. I think this may be my favourite Thor movie," says one user.
Some viewers claimed Taika Waititi to have delivered a perfect remix of Marvel comics with super funny, ridiculously exciting, and genuinely inspirational.
However, others weren't entirely swayed by the humour, music, and visuals delivered in the film, with a few viewers noting that the film was "tonally all over the place" and not quite able to live up to the "comedy bombast of Ragnarok."
One user called Thor Love And Thunder as a 'bright spot in a wobbly Phase 4 due to its goofy lark humour and its undercooked A-list star as villain.
Applauding the romantic aspects of the film, while highlighting that it is a "classic Thor adventure", someone writes, "Big, colourful, weird Guns N' Roses-fueled battles to go w/ a hopelessly romantic story about discovering love in unexpected places. Christian Bale & Russell Crowe are especially great. And Korg!"
It sounds like fans of Thor and Jane are in for a treat, with some users #ThorLoveAndThunder went and made me ship Thor and Dr. Jane Foster in 2 hours. They (aka Taika) really went and did that. Seriously, I haven't felt this way since Tony/Pepper and I'm just speechless. Who am I? Where do I go from here? Is there fanart? pic.twitter.com/8Ug57QuDEk
