First announced in a post on her Tumblr account followed by updates on other social platforms, Swift posted:

Me in 2020: life is chill, writing songs based in fiction to avoid drama, feeling pretty grown up

My 2008 music from the vault, in a goblin voice: “REELEEEEEEASE MR PERFECTLY FIIIIIIINE”

Mr Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version) is the third song to be released from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) after Love Story (Taylor’s Version) and You All Over Me (Taylor’s Version). Mr Perfectly Fine follows the genre of other songs like Jump Then Fall and Hey Stephen from Fearless. Swift plays around with the title of this song using irony. This is evident as we soon find out how far the guy is from being perfectly fine after listening to the song.

"One thing I’ve been loving about these From The Vault songs is that they’ve never been heard, so I can experiment, play, and even include some of my favourite artists," said Swift in an earlier post. She calls the unreleased songs which did not make it to the album, From The Vault. Mr Perfectly Fine is one of the songs from this category.

The 31-year-old singer-songwriter has been known for planting ‘Easter Eggs’ or puzzles that give hints and clues to her fans for her upcoming new songs or albums. But she decided to drop this new song out of nowhere without leaving Easter eggs, which also took her fans by complete surprise.

After feuds with her previous music manager Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun over the ownership of her masters, Swift has started to re-record and eventually re-release her old songs.

Fans as well as other celebrities have shown their love and support for Swift and her journey of re-recording and re-releasing her songs all over social media. The support was evident especially when the whole world started streaming the re-release of Love Story (Taylor’s Version) earlier this year and turned the charts and music industry upside down.
