Money Heist season five cast: Money Heist (or La Casa de Papel), the much loved Spanish web series, is coming to an end in 2021. This Spanish crime drama created by Álex Pina is one of the most popular shows on a digital platform. The series traces two heists led by a criminal mastermind, The Professor. One of them takes place in the Royal mint of Spain and the other in the Bank of Spain. Both of these are narrated from the perspective of one of the robbers, Tokyo. The major reason behind the popularity of the series is its thrilling storyline and stellar star cast.
Series overview
Set in Madrid, Spain, Money Heist introduces us to 'The Professor', a mysterious man who recruits a group of eight people to carry out an ambitious plan that involves robbing the Royal Mint of Spain of 1.2 billion Euros. The team takes 67 people hostage and plans to remain inside the Mint for 11 days to print the money as they deal with elite police forces. The group is gradually forced out of hiding and start preparing for a second heist. This time their target is the Bank of Spain.
In the last season Money Heist, we find that the gang has been locked in the Bank of Spain for more than 100 hours. The Professor has been captured and he has no escape plan. Soon, the team has to deal with a much more powerful enemy than any of them have so far come face to face with- the army. We are yet to see how the 'greatest heist in history' will come to an end.
Money Heist Season Five Cast
Most of the recurring cast members will be seen reprising their roles in the finale season as well. Álvaro Morte will be playing the lead role as The Professor. Úrsula Corberó will be seen in the role of Tokyo. Itziar Ituño will be playing the role of Lisbon. The series will also have Miguel Herrán as Rio, Esther Acebo as Stockholm, Jaime Lorente as Denver, Hovik Keuchkerian as Bogota, Najwa Nimri as Alicia Sierra and Belén Cuesta as Manila. Rodrigo de la Serna will be essaying the character of Palermo, Enrique Arce will assume the role of Arturo.
We will also see Darko Peric as Helsinki, Luka Peros as Marseille, José Manuel Poga as Gandía and Fernando Cayo as Coronel Tamayo. Miguel Ángel Silvestre as René and Patrick Criado as Rafael are the two new additions to the star cast for Money Heist season five.
For Úrsula Corberó, it was 'heartbreaking' to move on from the character of Tokyo that earned the actor global fame. She believed she will be taking Tokyo with her forever. The actor further revealed that when she finished shooting, she chose not to say goodbye to Tokyo.
Release date and streaming platform
The first volume of Money Heist season five will start streaming on Friday, Sep 3 on Netflix. The second volume of the series is scheduled to release on Dec 3 this year.
