Masaba Masaba Season 2: Netflix on Wednesday announced the revival of the hugely successful show headlined by the spunky mother-daughter duo Neena Gupta and Masaba Gupta for a second season. Scheduled to hit our screens later this year, Masaba Masaba 2 will pick up on the previous season's thread and take fans, once again, on their complex, loving, glamorous, messy lives behind the camera. And this time, the Guptas promise double the fun!
The synopsis of the show by Netflix reads, "Glamour ke peeche kya hai? It’s a tough world, but Masaba and Neena Gupta are tougher. The mess is over, and this time the plan is world domination."
Masaba Masaba Season 2: What To Expect
- The show promises to give fans a taste of all kinds of love: new ones, old ones and ones that are wistful and not always successful.
- Both women take their careers, image, friendships and lovers, in their own hands and turn everything around.
- Gupta, who has been vocal about bringing Masaba up as a single mother, has been an icon as far as breaking stereotypes go. We can expect more on that front as she embarks upon another high trajectory of life and career in Masaba Masaba season 2.
- Gupta and Masaba's relationship is a candidly easygoing one, something that was the highlight of the series last season. It's more friendship than a parent-child equation, and we all love to see that!
- As in last season, women viewers can expect to see a number of themes relevant to us being touched upon - from balancing the challenges that come with dating, marriage, divorce, and singlehood.
- The "human factor" is something fans can expect to return in Masaba Masaba season 2 as we witness the mother-daughter duo fight, bicker and make-up as we all do.
Makers Of Masaba Masaba On The "Gumption" Of The Gupta Mother-Daughter
Last year in a conversation with SheThePeople, the women behind the show - stars Masaba, Neena Gupta, director Sonam Nair and producer Ashvini Yardi - had opened up on their motivations and expectations from the show. On why this mother-daughter duo deserved their own show, Nair said, "Because of the gumption that both of these women have, no matter what is thrown at them, and their ability to stand up again and face it and move on, that is what we wanted to capture the most in the show."
Yardi, on Masaba leading her namesake show, said she is "not your conventional, typical Bollywood heroine. Neither she is your typical protagonist. That itself is a big change that we are seeing. Masaba is so bold and sassy and she’s very different from what we’ve usually seen."
