Manish Malhotra is set to begin a different phase in his professional career. Ace fashion designer Malhotra is reportedly entering the world of direction and will soon make his directorial debut.
As per reports, Malhotra will start his director's journey with a biopic on the late actor Meena Kumari. It's believed that none other than Kriti Sanon will play the lead role in the film, enacting the legendary Kumari's life.
Now, in a recent interview with Film Companion, Manish Malhotra confirmed the news about a film based on Meena Kumari's life. He disclosed that the scripting process is still ongoing and expressed his fascination with Meena Kumari, stating that the film will be based on her books.

Meena Kumari, who was earlier called Mahjabeen Bano, earned the name ‘The Tragedy Queen’ not just because of her performances on screen in tragic films, but also because of how similar her personal life was to those narratives as well.

Her life emulates courage and passion, and what better than a biopic to showcase all that, and more? The film is said to be produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and is currently in its scripting stage.
According to reports, Meena Kumari's stepson Tajdar Amrohi filed a suit against the makers stating that they did not ask for his consent before going forward with the biopic announcement.
Sanon who recently starred in Adipurush, as Sita, recently announced that she is turning producer. Her production house is titled Blue Butterfly Films and is all set to back its first film, Do Patti, in collaboration with writer and producer Kanika Dhillon. Sanon started her career with Heropanti and has since given some brilliant performances including Mimi.
