According to NDTV, Smita Bharadwaj’s source revealed that the application seeks to sell Nitish Bharadwaj's property to recover the outstanding amount owed to each daughter.
In response, Nitish Bharadwaj expressed uncertainty about the application, stating that he would need to consult his lawyers. The actor, known for his role as Lord Krishna in the television serial Mahabharat, had previously accused his estranged wife of "abducting" their daughters and preventing him from meeting them, prompting him to seek police intervention. Bharadwaj has reportedly lodged a formal complaint with the police against his wife, Smita Gate, who currently holds the position of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) at the MP Human Rights Commission. Allegations of harassment and disruptive behaviour are at the centre of the complaint.
According to a report by the Free Press Journal, Nitish Bharadwaj took his grievances to the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Bhopal on Wednesday, February 14 submitting a written statement detailing his accusations against his wife. Among the claims made by the actor in his complaint is the assertion that Gate has prevented him from seeing their twin daughters, Devyani and Shivranjani. He also alleges that Gate has changed the schools of their daughters in an attempt to hinder his access to them, resulting in detrimental effects on his mental well-being.
In response to the complaint, the CP has reportedly assigned investigating officer Phalguni Dixit to probe the matter and ascertain the facts surrounding the allegations.
