Filmmaker Madhura Pandit Jasraj, aged 86 and the wife of renowned musician late Pandit Jasraj, passed away on September 25 in Mumbai due to age-related health issues. According to family spokesperson Pritam Sharma, her last rites are scheduled to take place at the Oshiwara crematorium later in the evening.

Madhura was the daughter of the esteemed filmmaker V. Shantaram. Madhura first met Pandit Jasraj in 1962, and they tied the knot shortly after, initially residing in Kolkata before eventually moving to Mumbai. She is survived by their two children: music director Shaarang Dev Pandit and television personality Durga Jasraj.

Madhura had a multifaceted career as a director, producer, and writer. In addition to directing plays and films, she authored several books, including a biography about her father, titled V Shantaram: The Man Who Changed Indian Cinema.
In a remarkable achievement, she made her mark in history in 2010 by directing the Marathi film Aai Tujha Aashirwad, becoming the oldest debutant director of a feature film, a feat that earned her a place in the Limca Book of Records. The film featured music by her late husband Pandit Jasraj, along with the legendary Lata Mangeshkar.
Throughout his esteemed career, he was honoured with numerous awards and accolades, including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan, in recognition of his significant contributions to Indian music. His teachings went beyond borders, influencing audiences in countries such as the United States and Canada.
Additionally, Madhura directed a biographical short film about her husband, titled Sangeet Martand Jasraj. The legendary Pandit Jasraj passed away in 2020 at the age of 90.
