Defying Social Conventions, Madhu Mantena Embraces Wife's Surname After Marriage

Film producer Madhu Mantena got married to writer and yoga teacher Ira Trivedi last week in Mumbai and has been making news for their cute wedding pictures as well as for the presence of some of the big names of Bollywood at their wedding. 

Now in a welcoming change, Matena has added her surname to his name. The change is reflected on his Instagram account.

Both Madhu Mantena and Ira Trivedi shared some beautiful shots of their wedding on their Instagram where stars like Aamir Khan, Allu Arjun, and Hrithik Roshan along with Saba Azad can be seen involved in the celebration. While the couple also hosted a grand wedding reception where many renowned faces from the film industry could be spotted from Rakesh Roshan, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, and Anil Kapoor, to Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Sonali Bendre, Vivek Oberoi and many more. 

Soon after the wedding, the couple once again made the news when Madhu Mantena changed his full name on Instagram to Madhu Mantena Trivedi, embracing his wife's surname. According to the Hindu traditions of marriage, the wife takes up the surname of her husband, but Madhu Mantena seems to be defying these social conventions by taking a big step and embracing his wife's name.

The newly wedded couple are now on their honeymoon in Maldives. In one of the pictures Ira can be seen doing a headstand by the pool wearing a sleek white swimsuit where the cutely obsessed husband, Mantena captioned "Now I am just showing off my wife."

While 48-year-old Madhu Mantena was earlier married to Masaba Gupta,  this is 39-year-old Ira Trivedi's first marriage. Masaba Gupta's mother Nina Gupta also congratulated the couple on their wedding pictures.

Madhu Mantena has produced some famous Indian films like Bhavesh Joshi, Ugly, Queen, and Ghajini. While Ira Trivedi is the founder of the non-profit organisation (NGO) Namami Yoga, she is also a columnist and has written for various newspapers.
