Lizzo Speech Emmy 2022
Lizzo began her acceptance speech by saying, “Big girls come onstage right now”. She proceeded to thank everyone for the Emmy nomination and award. Lizzo added, “I’m very emotional. The trophy is nice, but my emotion is for these people who are on the stage with me.”
Lizzo spoke about how as a young girl all she wanted to see in the media was somebody like her. “Someone fat like me, Black like me, beautiful like me,” said Lizzo. She added that if she could go back in time and speak to a young Lizzo, she would tell herself that she would see somebody in the media like her, but it would be her.
She concluded the speech with a message to the participants who took part in her dance competition show. Lizzo said, “Where are my big girls at? Come! One year ago, these women were on this television show that would change their lives forever.”
Lizzo added that the participants were now Emmy Award-winning superstars who are going on a world tour.
