Grammy-winning American singer, rapper and songwriter Lizzo announced at the Warner Bros that an untitled documentary about her is coming to HBO Max this fall. Showcasing how she balances the challenges of stardom, the documentary will follow the artist’s life from her humble beginnings to her history-making career in music and culture.
With inputs from Variety, Lizzo said in a statement, “Growing up I never dreamed I’d get to experience all of the things I’ve accomplished in my life, and I’m just getting started.” She further shared her excitement with fans. “I’m so excited I get to share and relive my journey with my fans and HBO Max.
From ‘Cuz I Love You’ to my dramatic world tour, losing and gaining love, and creating my new album ‘Special,’ y’all get to see the amount of time, patience, blood, sweat and tears that went into this process. It takes ten years to become an ‘overnight success,’ and hopefully, I can inspire other young creatives to keep going,” she added.

Lizzo Documentary
Directed by Doug Pray and produced by Kevin Beisler, Kevin Weaver, Ryan Kroft and Nicole Rocklin, Lizzo is also the executive producer of the documentary through her production company Lizzobangers. According to reports, Pray is also a producer with his producing partner Stephanie Meurer.
Presented by Warner Music Entertainment and Live Nation Productions, the documentary is also an Atlantic Films production in association with Boardwalk Pictures and Diamond Docs. The team of executive producers for Atlantic Films/Warner Music Entertainment are, Len Blavatnik, Julie Greenwald, Craig Kallman, and Charlie Cohen. Executive producing for Live Nation Productions includes Michael Rapino, Omar Al-Joulani, Lesley Olenik and Chad Wasser while the executive producing for Diamond Docs is Mark Monroe.
Announced on Wednesday at an event for HBO, with the streaming service referring to the upcoming biopic as Untitled Lizzo Documentary, the details of it are thin on the ground at this point.
With the release of her third studio album, Cuz I Love You (2019), Lizzo attained success. The album peaked in the top five of the US Billboard 200. Lizzo's 2017 single "Truth Hurts" was included in the deluxe version of the album. The song later became a hit, topping the US Billboard Hot 100 two years after its initial release and also marking the long-leading solo song by a female rapper. With eight nominations at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, the most for any artist that year, including Album of the Year for the deluxe version of Cuz I Love You, Song of the Year and Record of the Year for "Truth Hurts", Lizzo also received an award for Best New Artist.
