Sonam Kapoor and her husband, Anand Ahuja, recently hosted a baby shower for their first child, and independent artist Leo Kalyan performed at the event. At the actor's baby shower in London on Wednesday, Kalyan sang numerous Hindi songs, including Masakali and Chura Liya, and also uploaded photos and videos from the event on Instagram.
Kalyan captioned his post, "A spice girl in Bollywood. I just performed at Sonam Kapoor's baby shower. What is life?" After he shared the post, some social media users criticised Kalyan for attending the party in a strappy outfit. Kalyan replied to the haters with an Instagram story after one user called them out. Kalyan later revealed that he had received a lot of hate on social media. He responded in an Instagram story, saying that the remarks made him feel like he was doing something right.
Leo Kalyan Receives Hate Comments
As Kalyan expressed it, "Hate comments don't affect me because, firstly, some of them are genuinely funny; I share them with my friends and we laugh nonstop (laughing emoji). Hate comments also serve as a constant reminder that simply by living my life, I am CHALLENGING individuals and social conventions. That is to say, I'm doing something right. "
On his Instagram Stories, he added, "Because there are so many messages, I won't be able to respond to everyone individually. But I'm making an effort to read them all slowly. Also, thank you for the love. I honestly did not expect any of this, so each and every like, share, comment, and DM is such a blessing. "
For those unaware, Kalyan is a British-Pakistani musician, music producer, and model. The artist is one of the first South Asian musicians to come out as gay. He prefers the pronouns he/she/they. On his website, the London-based artist describes himself as "An independent artist walking the line between art and activism."
