Although, staying home for over a year now has been no picnic, we can always be grateful to the OTT platforms for bearing the burden of keeping us entertained.

While we are still indoors and have no clue when this ends, these recent releases will expand your stay-home possibilities.

English

Loki

In the Tom Hiddleston-led Marvel series Loki, the actor will reprise his titular role. The six-part series also stars Owen Wilson as a member of Time Variance Authority, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant.

Solos

Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video

The seven-part anthology miniseries ponders upon what it means to be human. The sci-fi series has a star-studded cast featuring Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Constance Wu, and Dan Stevens. In the unique character-driven stories, each character will set off on a thrilling adventure to the future.

Awake

Where to watch: Netflix

Awake follows a family stuck in a world where no one can connect via technology and also cannot sleep. The sci-fi thriller has  lead character Jil played by Gina Rodriguez. As per the plot she struggles to keep her family alive and then suddenly she realises her daughter might be the key to survival.

Skater Girl

Directed by Manjari Makijany, the film is set to release on streaming platform Netflix on June 11. The film revolves around a teen living in rural India, who discovers a life-changing passion for skateboarding. However, she faces a rough road as she follows her dream to compete.

Elite Season 4

In the fourth season of the teen drama series, we can expect the drama to increase. Set in a fictional elite secondary school, the show explores progressive issues and diverse sexual themes. It also delves into the relationships between three working-class teenage students and their wealthy classmates enrolled in the same school.

The Naked Director Season 2

Where to watch: Netflix

The show follows an adult filmmaker Toru Muranishi and the second part will progress on “Muranishi’s unusual and dramatic life to turn Japan’s porn industry”. The Japanese semi-biographical series is based on the non-fiction novel Zenra Kantoku Muranishi Toru Den by Nobuhiro Motohashi.

Lisey’s Story

Where to watch: Apple TV+

The mini-series based on a novel written by Stephen King by the same name is a psychological horror. Directed by Pablo Larraín, the series stars Julianne Moore in the titular role. Lisey's Story spans out when a man obsessed with the work of author Scott Landon, starts to stalk his widow to find more.

Sweet Tooth

Where to watch: Netflix

The Netflix fantasy drama series follows the story of two people who unexpectedly become companions and embark on an adventurous journey. After ‘The Great Crumble’ initiates the formation of hybrid babies- part human, part animal, Gus, a hybrid deer-boy meets a loner. The series is based on a comic series of the same name.

Feel Good Season 2

The first season of Feel Good ended dramatically as Mae relapses in her cocaine addiction and loses her sponsor. The official logline reads: “Mae and George’s complicated love story continues as Mae struggles to come to terms with the ghosts from her past and George tries to reinvent her present. Can they grow together or will they grow apart?”

The Mysterious Benedict Society

Based on the young adult book series of the same name, the adventure series begins at the Stone town Orphanage for gifted children. For a special mission, four children are assembled to investigate an institution called L.I.V.E. They aim to stop the secret messages transmitted into people’s minds via television and radio signals.

 

Hindi 

Ray

Where to watch: Netflix

The anthology helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji and Vasan Bala stars Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Kay Kay Menon and Harshvarrdhan Kapoor in lead roles. The four films will delve into the complexity of human emotions. “Satyajit Ray has been a big inspiration in my life… I also got the opportunity to work with a brilliant cast, including actors like Kay Kay Menon, Ali Fazal and Shweta Basu Prasad across two stories,” says Mukherji about the film.

 

Sherni

Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video

The Vidya Balan starrer sees the actor in the role of a forest officer. The film will explore “the complex issues of conflict between humankind and animals”. Balan powers through the beasts of social barrier set by the patriarchal society while trying to capture a tigress.

The Family Man Season 2

The second season of the much awaited web-series follows the story of Srikant Tiwari, Manoj Bajpayee, who worked for a special division of the National Investigation Agency, has now switched his job. Tiwari, a middle-class family man, is pitting against the “new face of danger” named Raji, and struggles to balance his secretive job profile and personal life.

Sunflower

Where to watch: Zee5

The forthcoming crime-thriller Sunflower will feature actor-comedian Sunil Grover in the lead role. The original web series directed by Vikas Bahl revolves around a murder that takes place in the housing society called Sunflower, roping the residents into the crimes. Grover, a simpleton, becomes a prime suspect in the case.
