The veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar had contracted COVID-19 and has been hospitalised. The 92-year-old is currently undergoing treatment at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai. After Lata Mangeshkar's niece, Rachna Shah updated her about her health status, the doctor treating her in the intensive care unit (ICU) also spoke with news media on the health status of the singer.
Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the hospital with mild symptoms. Reportedly, she has other health issues and considering her age the doctors are closely monitoring her condition. As reported by the ANI, news agency, Dr Pratit Samdhani, who is treating her at the hospital said, "Singer Lata Mangeshkar continues to be in the ICU ward. She will be under observation for 10-12 days. Along with COVID, she is also suffering from pneumonia."

Her niece, Shah has earlier told ANI, "She is doing fine; has been kept in ICU only for precautionary reasons considering her age. Please respect our privacy and keep Didi in your prayers." Lata Mangeshkar was last admitted to the hospital in November 2019 when she had complained of breathing problems.
