Karan Johar responded to a viral Instagram Reel by an influencer, which boldly claimed that his directorial debut film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, is the ultimate murder mystery. The Reel reimagines the iconic romantic film, casting Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as the main villains in this new interpretation. Discover more about this unique take on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai as it ventures into the realm of murder mystery.
In 1998, Karan Johar embarked on his directorial journey with the romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, featuring acclaimed actors Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji. The film achieved widespread recognition and even received the prestigious National Film Award for Best Popular Film For Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
Fast forward to the present, and an Instagram user by the name of Karan Mirchandani has taken a unique approach by reimagining this beloved classic as a thrilling murder mystery. In a detailed explanation, Mirchandani presents a compelling argument for why Kuch Kuch Hota Hai K2H2 stands as the pinnacle of all murder mystery films.
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai A Murder Mystery?
In a video shared on his Instagram, Mirchandani made an intriguing claim, comparing the film to the popular murder mystery movie Knives Out. With the caption, "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai did it before Knives Out!", he expressed his fondness for his film as a murder mystery. He highlighted that K2H2 is unique as it is initially presented as a high school romance but ultimately unfolds as a mystery.
He explained the plot, mentioning a girl who receives eight letters from her deceased mother, mysteriously urging her daughter's father to reunite with his high school lover. He found the concept bizarre, pondering the motivations behind a mother writing such letters to her daughter.
Describing himself as a Chronic Bollywood overthinker in his Instagram bio, he delved further into his explanation. He revealed that in the film, the characters Rahul and Anjali, who were high school sweethearts, encountered Tina, who came from a wealthy background. Realising that marrying Tina would secure their future, as her eventual demise would result in Rahul inheriting her wealth, they devised a plan. However, their plan hit a snag due to the existence of Rahul and Tina's child.
Adding to the plot twists, Mirchandani continued to unravel the intricate details. He shared how Rahul and Anjali devised a strategy to ensure their child unknowingly became a part of their plan. By making the child believe that it was her idea to bring Rahul and Anjali together, they aimed to eliminate any suspicion. In this way, the child would develop a strong bond with Anjali, considering her the new mother figure. Despite Tina's ghost appearing later on to hinder Anjali, the child remained firmly convinced that her actions were driven by love. As a result, the mastermind behind the murder plot and the child became aligned, making it a unique murder mystery where the perpetrators remain unidentified.
Here's How Karan Johar Reacted
The video quickly gained popularity on Instagram, catching the attention of none other than Karan Johar himself. Amused by the video, he shared it on his Instagram Stories, expressing his amusement with three laughing emojis.
