Mimi Leaked Online?: Kriti Sanon's Mimi reportedly leaked online four days before its original release date. After this, the makers of the film preponed it and released it immediately.
The film starring Pankaj Tripathi and Kriti Sanon along with the Marathi No Entry star Sai Tamhankar was supposed to release on July 30 on the OTT streaming platforms. But the movie was reportedly leaked online and as a result, the makers of the film decided to release it on Monday evening.
The lead actor Kriti Sanon took to her Instagram handle and wrote, "Mimi STREAMING NOW!!! Mimi went into labour early! Our baby couldn’t wait to see you all!!! Mimi streaming now on @netflix_in and @officialjiocinema. (sic)"
The film is about a quirky girl who decides to surrogate a child for a white couple. As seen in the trailer, the couple denies the child while Kriti is pregnant and this leads to a whole lot of troubles in her life.
Mimi is produced by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. It is directed by Laxman Utekar. He has also written the movie's story and screenplay along with Rohan Shankar. The film also stars the Khichdi actor Supriya Pathak. The film is now available to be streamed on Jio Cinema and Netflix.
Mimi is reportedly the Hindi remake of the Marathi movie 'Mala Aai Vhhaychy!'. The Marathi movie had won the Samroudhhi Porey's National Award. The Marathi film was about a poor woman from a rural area who agrees to surrogate a child for a white couple. After the couple denies accepting the baby and abandoned their surrogate, the woman is left to care for the child on her own. In the movie, it is depicted how the single mother takes care of a white child in a typical rural set-up and mothers the child as her own.
