With the arrival of the seventh season of Karan Johar’s talk show, Koffee With Karan, the first episode started off with some of the best moments shared by Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt - the first guests on the couch. While fans laughed and rooted for their friendship off-screen, here’s what the season had in store.
The inaugural edition of the controversial talk show debuted on Disney+ Hotstar on July 7, 2022, at 7 p.m. The stars of Karan Johar's new film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were full of humour, and the episode's teaser has already generated a lot of talks.
Koffee With Karan 7 episode 1 Highlights
The trio discussed a wide range of topics, including famous relationships, supporting their spouses, and getting married to their true loves. During his speech, Karan also discussed COVID-19 and how, following the lockdown, he became kinder and softer.
After announcing her pregnancy, Alia Bhatt, who wed her longtime partner Ranbir Kapoor earlier this year, has been in the news. The Bollywood actor together with Karan admitted that they never imagined Koffee With Karan would return in the wake of the criticism Bollywood faced during the pandemic. Karan continued that the time was incredibly tough for everyone in the industry, and he never believed he would wind up doing another Koffee with Karan season, Karan Johar did not specifically name Sushant Singh Rajput.
The group continued by discussing how Alia and Ranveer grew close after spending time together on the Gully Boy set. Also stated by Ranveer was the fact that he helped Alia when she needed it most during Gangubai Kathiawadi. He explained how working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali worked for her.
Alia won the second rapid-fire round even though Ranveer took home the hamper. Ranveer made fun of Alia and Karan by saying that “Nepo-bias” was on the way. They were praised by Karan for being the first guests on the show as the episode came to a close with the customary "sign the coffee mug moment." Ranveer Singh also revealed that he has a sex playlist. Alia Bhatt talked about her wedding night and said that there is not such thing as suhagraat as everyone is tired after their wedding.
Bhatt also talked about Gangubai and its success. She shared a message sent to her by Ibrahim Ali Khan and the two others at show enjoyed reading the endearing message with her.

The seventh season of Koffee with Karan began airing on Disney+ Hotstar in 2022 as a streaming exclusive under the service's content centre, Hotstar Specials. It is one of the most-watched discussion shows on Indian English-language television and the second longest-running talk show in terms of duration, behind Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan.
