Kim Mi Soo, Korean Actor And 'Snowdrop' Star, Passes Away At 31

Kim Mi Soo, a South Korean actor known for playing the role of Yeo Jung-min in the ongoing series Snowdrop, has passed away at the age of 31, reports said Wednesday. Reasons for her death aren't yet known with the event only being described as "sudden" by her agency, which confirmed her demise in a statement.

"We are relaying sorrowful and heartbreaking news. Kim Mi Soo suddenly passed away on January 5," Landscape Entertainment agency said. "The bereaved family is currently very heartbroken by the sudden mournful news." The statement further requests people to refrain from speculating or spreading rumours about the star's death.

Mi Soo's funeral will be held privately as per the wishes of her family.

Mi Soo's supporting role on Snowdrop as Yeo Jung-min was the last appearance she made on screen. Her character was that of a student and was associated with Jisoo's lead character of Eun Young-ro.

Besides Snowdrop, Mi Soo's television credits include Hi Bye, Mama!, Into the Ring, Yumi's Cells and Hellbound, to name a few. She also appeared in films, making her debut notably in 2018 with Lipstick Revolution and going on to star in the 2021 thriller The Cursed: Dead Man's Prey. 

Mi Soo's death comes as a shock to K-Drama fans who are extending condolences to the late star online.

"Rest in peace Kim Mi Soo, you really did well as Jeongmin, #Snowdrop's best Room 207 includes, and will reside in our hearts forever," one user wrote on Twitter. "Rest in peace #KimMiSoo. You did great playing your role as jungmin in snowdrop, you'll truly be missed," another user wrote. "she's one of my fave character in snowdrop, and it will hit different and harder for me to watch snowdrop from now on :(( gone too soon. may your soul rest and peace #KimMiSoo," one comment said. 

Last year in January, the death of Korean star Song Yoo-jung elicited similar shock from fans. The actor was found dead at her home in Seoul at the age of 26. A cause of death was not revealed in her case as well. Read here.
