Kiara Advani On Dimple Cheema: I Know The Songs Have Deeply Touched Her

Kiara Advani on Dimple Cheema: Kiara Advani has been receiving much appreciation for essaying the role of Dimple Cheema in her latest movie Shershaah opposite Sidharth Malhotra.

Shershaah is the biopic of the Kargil Martyr Captain Vikram Batra. Dimple Cheema was the Captain's fiancée and even after his death, she remained unmarried and continues to live as his widow. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about Cheema's reaction to the film.

Talking to Mid-Day, Advani revealed that Cheema was 'touched' by the songs of the film. Advani messaged her after the film. She also said that she wants to respect her privacy. "This is an emotional movie for her. I want to respect her privacy right now," she said. When she met the Captain's family after the film, they complimented her saying that she was exactly like Dimple. It moved her to tears. "I know the songs have deeply touched her. She must be proud that the story is resonating with people," she added.

Before she began shooting for the film, Advani met Cheema in Chandigarh to understand her journey. Cheema's character inspired Advani and it will forever have a special place in her heart. Through her, she got a better understanding of the emotional journey of a soldier's partner. Talking to DNA earlier this month, Advani said that being a civilian it is very different to be in a relationship with someone whose duty is such a high-risk job. Cheema's moving story stayed with her and knew that it was the story they had to share through the movie.

Kiara Advani made her OTT debut with Guilty in 2020. It is a crime thriller in the wake of the #MeToo era. She was recently seen in the comedy movie Indoo Ki Jawaani. Advani will next appear opposite Kartik Aryan in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. She also has Mr Lele alongside Vicky Kaushal in the making.
