Celebs praise Aaliyah Kashyap after she opens up on online harassment: After Aaliyah Kashyap opened up about facing online hate and rape threats many celebrities have been coming out in her support against harassers. Kashyap endured harassment over one of her photoshoots in which she posed wearing lingerie.
On Friday, Kashyap took to Instagram to open up about her ordeal, writing that the past few weeks had been really hard on her mental health. “Nothing I do or post is an invitation for sexual assault,” Aaliyah, daughter of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, wrote in her post.
Several celebrity kids have now come out in support of Kashyap. While Alaviaa Jaaferi, Suhana Khan and Alanna Panday dropped heart emojis, upcoming actor and daughter of late Sridevi, Khushi Kapoor commented, "I love you I'm proud of you." Actor Kalki Koechlin, who was previously married to Kashyap's filmmaker father, too commented on her post, writing, "Proud of you for sharing this."
Aaliyah Kashyap's post detailing her ordeal has since garnered over 37,000 likes:
Saying that she has never felt more frightened before, Aaliyah Kashyap wrote, "The past few weeks have been really hard on my mental health. Ever since I posted a photo of me in lingerie, I have been getting the most vile, degrading and disgusting comments. I have never felt more frightened than I have in the past few weeks to the point where I considered deleting my instagram."
Kashyap added that she had tried to ignore the harassment and shrug it off, "but the truth is that we need to speak about it because these kind of comments contribute to the rape culture that affects all women in India (and the rest of the world) in one way or the other."
Navya Naveli Nanda, Anshula Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Anurag Kashyap, Ahaan Panday, and many other celebs have also liked her post. "You’ve always been this strong girl I've known who lives her life by her rules ...proud of you for posting and never letting these regressive people change your perspective and speaking aloud," one person on Instagram commented on Kashyap's post, while another wrote, "Really sorry you went through this, thank you for standing up. Supports the voices of many others. Stay strong, you do you sis."
