American songwriter and musician Katy Perry has recently been accused of environmental infringement. The singer is in trouble after allegedly filming the music video for her new single “Lifetimes” in a protected area without the necessary permit. Perry's latest hit 'Lifetimes' was released in early August and has over 2.6 million views.

In the music video, Katy Perry can be seen having the time of her life on the Ibiza beach. Her sand-covered legs and thighs gave people major FOMO for a beach vacay. It includes shots of the dunes of S'Espalmador.

However, the area is protected by poles and ropes, which indicates it is not free to use by anyone. And the rules for using it for a commercial shoot must be even tighter. The entire film crew accompanied her here, which hinted at a more serious case of trespassing and environmental infringement.

The government of Spain's Balearic islands has said that the shoot took place on the small, protected island "without the necessary permissions."

"That is why preliminary investigation actions have been initiated," it said in a statement.

The music video was filmed at Sea Salines Natural Park. The park breathes in sand dunes and is located between the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. Activity at this place is subject to authorization.

"It's not an environmental crime," says the Government

The government quoted that no potential damage to the area protected by ropes has yet been confirmed. And hence it cannot be classified as "environmental damage" or "crime against the environment."

Photographic or videographic reports can be authorised upon written request and official procedure.

The production company ironically named "We Own the City" is yet to comment on the situation or to submit an apology.

Not the first time Katy got herself into trouble

Katy Perry is a sensation, and she keeps this fire burning by falling into controversies one after the other. Recently, her 5-month-old music video "Woman's World" drew criticism from the internet. The song's ambitious attempt at establishing girl power was not balanced well by the visuals which are unnecessarily sexualised

"It feels like a cheap grab to get people to say "mother" without any real substance in it," reads a review.

This bomb of controversy was preceded by some gunshots, such as her feud with Britney Spears. She has been called out for making fun of Britney Spear's mental health struggles. When asked if she would shave her her head, she made a very insensitive snide at Britney. "OOH, I am actually saving that for a public breakdown."

Now let's see where the latest instance of overstepping boundaries at the Balearic Islands takes the American star, Katy Perry.
