Katie Price: English model and businesswoman Katie Price revealed that she has been registered disabled after she broke both her feet in an accident.
She added that she has applied for a blue badge, after being certified by her doctor.
A blue-coloured badge is issued to drivers with disabilities for display on their windscreens, which endows them with certain parking privileges.
She told Sun newspaper, "I have to park near the entrances to shops all the time, otherwise it would cripple me to walk from the back of a car park to a shop and back again. I can't carry anything from the shops either or even walk up the stairs with anything. The heavier the items, the more it hurts my feet."
She further added that she could only walk for around 20 minutes at a time, or else it felt like shocks of lightning shooting up her feet all day.
Accident of Katie Price
The 42-year old glamour model reportedly fell from a 25 feet wall and broke her feet while holidaying in Turkey in July 2020. Katie Price required eight hours of rigorous surgery to fuse her bones back together afterwards.
A railing has now reportedly been built around the site to avoid such accidents in the future. She also told that if she had hit her head, then 'she wouldn't be here today'.
Talking about the accident, she told the newspaper that the accident scarred her for life and that she will never be the same again. Nevertheless, she also said that she has come to terms with the harsh reality and is trying to stay positive.
Katie Price opened up about her struggles
Katie Price, also popularly known as Jordan, further spoke in length about her pain and struggle with her disabled state. She talked about how difficult it is for her to walk and how it left her in pain every time.
She added, "I’ve been given two sets of painkillers but I can’t take them because I’m scared of becoming addicted, so I’m just in constant pain."
“This has all affected our home life dramatically. I can’t do fun things with my kids any more, such as trampolining. I also have to take a wheelchair if I want to go on a long family walk."
She also revealed that she had to limp as her one leg is longer than the other because of the metal cast in her foot. In fact, she said that she 'waddled like a duck'. She said that this makes her feel a bit paranoid.
“When it’s cold, my feet ache at night. I can’t get rid of the constant pain. Once I sit down I can’t get up again because it hurts too much. It’s just one thing after another… I know — every day is a nightmare at the moment in the life of the Pricey.”
Katie reportedly needs physiotherapy sessions four times a week — and potentially even more surgery, as her limping has affected her hips, back and knees.
“I’ve got to have some work to sort out my legs and have them aligned. I also have these pads in my shoes because I’ve got a collapsed arch in one foot," she added.
About Katie's son Harvey
The actor and model, who is also a mother of five, was also praised when she appeared in a BBC One documentary Katie Price: Harvey and Me with her son Harvey. Born in 2002, Harvey suffers from partial blindness, autism and Prader-Willi syndrome, which is a rare genetic condition that can cause physical issues as well as behavioural and learning difficulties.
She also stated that she decided to move him into a residential college, where he will be taught skills and ways to lead a more independent life.
