Karungappiyam Trailer: Kajal Promises An Edge-Of-The-Seat Horror-Thriller

The trailer for Kajal Agarwal’s much-anticipated Karungappiyam was released by actor Vijay Sethupathi on his Twitter handle on Monday. Sharing the trailer of the film, the actor wrote, "Happy to share the trailer of Karungappiyam. Congrats team Karungappiyam." The horror-thriller is written and directed by director D. Karthikeyan, known as Deekay, and bankrolled by Pave Entertainments.

Karungappiyam marks actor Kajal Aggarwal's long-awaited comeback to the Tamil film industry. The women-centric horror-thriller also features four other female lead characters: Regina Cassandra, Raiza Wilson, Janani, and Noyirka Bhatheja.

Karungappiyam Trailer Review

The trailer opens with Regina Cassandra introducing a book named "Karungappiyam" that was written at least a century ago. The book apparently has details about today’s world, including the COVID-19 lockdown. The trailer then shows glimpses of both the present scenario and a flashback. From the look of the trailer, it looks like Kajal Agarwal plays a crucial role in the flashback sequence, and the crux of the story will revolve around her. The film will narrate the story of how the lives of five women collide. On the whole, the ">trailer promises an edge-of-your-seat horror thriller with female leads.

According to director Deekay, "Kajal Aggarwal’s character will have a superpower, but she won’t realise it. Regina Cassandra’s character is a split image of Kajal’s. Raiza Wilson has karu naaku (a tongue with black spots), meaning whatever she says will come true. Janani’s character has a fetish; here are some people who have this thing for matching clothes or a craze for some fruit or eatables. This is something like that, but a little unique. Noyirka’s character is literally out of this world, pun intended."

Karungappiyam Cast

Kajal Aggarwal, Regina Cassandra, Raiza Wilson, Janani, and Noyirka Bhatheja play the lead characters. The cast also includes Kalaiyarasan, Yogi Babu, Karunakaran, John Vijay, Sha Ra, and "Lollu Sabha" actor Manohar in supporting roles.
