After making her OTT debut last year with Jaane Jaan, Kareena Kapoor Khan is rumoured to be stepping into the world of Kannada cinema, marking her debut in the industry. The news comes as director Geetu Mohandas and Yash, the acclaimed actor, are reportedly preparing to announce Kapoor’s collaboration on their upcoming project. Though specifics about the film remain tightly guarded, reports suggest that Kareena might take on a prominent role in the movie.
This development follows Yash’s recent unveiling of his 19th film, Toxic. In a captivating teaser shared last month, the actor presented glimpses of his character, showcasing a striking appearance featuring a potbelly, a vintage hat, and a firearm.
Kareena Kapoor To Join Yash in Toxic
The teaser, which intriguingly includes fiery visuals of famous anti-heroes like DC Comics Joker, gradually leads to Yash’s enigmatic look in the film. The teaser culminates with the title Toxic and the tagline, "A fairytale for grown-ups."
The project, produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions, initially sparked speculation regarding its female lead, with Sai Pallavi and Raashii Khanna’s names surfacing in the media. However, the recent buzz surrounding Kareena Kapoor Khan’s association with the film has generated immense excitement among fans and cinephiles alike.
Yash and Kareena Kapoor on Work Fronts:
Yash’s prominence skyrocketed after the massive success of his 2018 film, KGF, followed by the box office sensation KGF 2 in 2022, which amassed over Rs 1,000 crore globally. His transition into pan-Indian stardom has amplified the anticipation for Toxic, which promises to be a cinematic spectacle.
Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor is gearing up for her upcoming roles in Bollywood. She's slated to portray Ajay Devgn's character's spouse in Singham 3. Alongside this, she's also part of the star-studded cast in the eagerly awaited film The Crew, co-starring Tabu, Kriti Sanon, and Diljit Dosanjh. The movie delves into the lives of three women navigating the trials within the airline industry.
Interestingly, during an event in 2018, Kareena Kapoor expressed, "Although I don't speak Kannada, I hope someday I will entertain in your language. Maybe in a film someday. Cinema is the coming together of people, which has no language, religion, or regional boundaries. Cinema is in my blood. It is my passion, and it is food for the soul for me."
