Darshan Thoogudeepa was recently charged after his pet dog allegedly attacked a 48-year-old woman, who is a legal practitioner by profession. The woman who parked her car in a vacant spot near the actor's residence to attend a programme in the neighbourhood was attacked by three pet dogs. The woman and the dogs' caretaker also got into a quarrel with each other during the incident.
As per the police, the incident took place on October 28 in RR Nagar, when the complainant woman identified as Amita Jindal had gone to attend a programme near Darshan's neighbourhood and had parked her car at an empty spot near his residence.
Darshan Booked After Pet Dog Attacked A Woman
According to the woman's complaint, when she returned to pick up her car, a man was standing with three dogs and upon her request to side the dogs so that she could get into the car, he picked up an argument refusing her to let in the car.
According to the complainant, the man started fighting with her over the parking space although the woman expressed that she did not know she was unaware of such a restriction. As the argument heated up, one of the untied dogs attacked the woman, which was followed by another dog biting her.
The woman said to the police that the man was rude and aggressive and must be charged with attempt to murder under section 307.
A senior police officer said that the actor's pet dogs allegedly bit the woman and tore her clothes as per her complaint. Both the actor and caretaker have been booked under the IPC section 289 (negligence concerning animals).
The police also said that the actor has borne the medical expenses of the woman.
In 2011, the actor was also accused by his wife Vijayalaxmi of attempting murder and criminal intimidation. She alleged that the actor beat her and threatened her with a gun. The actor was jailed for almost a month before he was granted bail and was later acquitted in the case. Darshan Thoogudeepa is a popular actor and son of late Kannada actor Thoogudeepa Srinivas who made his acting debut with the 2001 film Majestic and has acted in more than 50 films.
