Chaithra Kotoor, a former Kannada Bigg Boss contestant, tried to end her life on Thursday (April 8). She had consumed phenyl at her house in Kolar, Karnataka. Soon after the incident, Kotoor was rushed to a local hospital. She is stable now.
Recently, on March 28, a photo of Kotoor and Mandya-based businessman Nagarjuna's wedding at a temple had gone viral. According to police sources, the actor's marriage soon grabbed the headlines after Nagarjuna's family refused to accept their relationship. She was reportedly in a relationship with him for the past couple of years, the police said.
Nagarjuna also alleged that he was "forced" and threatened by some people to marry her against his wishes.
His family had allegedly sent the couple away and Kotoor was reportedly not allowed inside the house, as Nagarjuna's family had deemed the marriage "invalid". The police also added that Kotoor had accused Nagarjuna of constantly delaying the wedding but eventually they tied the knot with the support of the former's family and community leaders.
"His family had bad-mouthed me, my job and even issued death threats to me if I did not let him go. So, we requested to hold talks in Kolar instead of discussing the issue in public," the actor told the police. "The matter reached the police station in Kolar. We had called both the families to the station for their statements," the police added.
Kotoor is a scriptwriter for television serials. She has also featured in a supporting role in Haripriya's Soojidaara before featuring as a contestant on Kiccha Sudeep hosted Bigg Boss Kannada. She was a part of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 7, where she participated along with 17 other celebrity contestants. Actor Shine Shetty had emerged as a winner for the said season.
