Kangana Ranaut summoned by Punjab Court over her remarks, calling a protesting female farmer "Shaheen Bagh Dadi" in a tweet last year. The defamation case against the queen of controversies was filed by Mohinder Kaur, who was misidentified by the actor on her now-banned Twitter account during the farmer's protest.
In connection with the case, the Punjab Court has asked Ranaut to appear before the court on April 19. This order was passed on February 23. The media was told about this summon by Kaur's advocate Raghbir Singh Behniwal. While stating the date of Ranaut's summons to the court, he also revealed that the case against her was filed by Kaur in January 2021.

In Kaur's complaint against the actor, who is popular for films like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu, she stated that the actor made, "false imputations and remarks" against her in the tweet by comparing her with a woman, who according to Ranaut was the same "Dadi." The one who was part of the Shaheen Bagh protest and alleging that such protestors could be hired for rupees hundred.

In the complaint, Kaur alleged, "By using such remarks, the actor lowered my reputation and prestige." Kaur is a resident of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda, and her family owns close to 12 acres of land.
The actor had allegedly misidentified Kaur as Bilkis Bano, who made headlines during the anti-CAA protest in 2019 in the Shaheen Bagh, a neighbourhood in New Delhi.
In her "defamatory" tweet, Ranaut had alleged that "Shaheen Badh Dadi" has also joined the farmer's agitation at the border points of the national capital. She had retweeted a picture of two old women and wrote, "same Dadi" who was featured in Time Magazine was "available in 100 rupees." Ranaut later deleted the tweet after Twitter users pointed out the mistake.
The summon has been made under section 499 (whoever, by words either spoken or intended to be read, or by signs or by visible representations, makes or published any imputation concerning any person intending to harm or knowing or having reason to believe that such imputation will harm, the reputation of such person) and 500, which deals with defamation, of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
