After a number of first-person reports (FIRs) piling up against Kangana Ranaut for her statement against Sikhs, farm laws, azaadi (freedom), the actor has now been summoned by the Peace and Harmony Committee of the Delhi Assembly. The summon has been issued for her remarks against Sikhs on social media. Ranaut has been ordered to appear before the committee on December 6.
The committee is headed by Aam Aadmi Party leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Raghav Chadha. This committee was formed after the riots in northeast Delhi in February 2020. The purpose of the committee is to look into incidents that can cause disruption in the city.
In a statement issued by the committee, they have received multiple complaints on the "outrageously offensive" and "derogatory" social media posts by Ranaut. For the same reason, her account on Twitter was suspended.
"According to the complaints, the stories published by Ms Kangana Ranaut on her Instagram Account which has a massive reach and is being followed by around 80 lakh of people worldwide, specifically illustrates the instances which hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh Community and has a tendency to disturb the peace and harmony of the society," read the statement by the committee.
Considering this, the committee has summoned the actor and she is to appear at 12 PM on December 6, 2021.
About Kangana Ranaut Sikh Remarks:
An FIR was filed against the Queen actor in Mumbai as well, for her comments against members of the Sikh community and linking them with terrorists. The person who filed this complained accused Ranaut of "intentionally and deliberately" hurting the sentiments of the community and associating farmers protest to the "Khalistani" movement.
The FIR was lodged on November 23, Tuesday, by a 47-year-old Mumbai-based businessman Amarjeet Singh Sandhu along with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).
In a post on social media, Ranaut had written, "Khalistani terrorists may be arm twisting the government today... The only woman prime minister ne inn ko apni jooti ke neeche crush kiya tha (the only women prime minister who crushed them under her shoes). No matter how much suffering she caused to this nation...she crushed them like mosquitoes at the cost of her own life... Lekin desh k tukde nahi hone diye (but she didn't let the division of nation happen)."
Ranaut has been charged with section 259A for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion and religious belief, of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
