The duo discussed their bond and many other things in the show; here are all the highlights.
Koffee With Karan Season 8 Ep 6 Highlights
Karan Johar revisited a memory from the past, recalling why he advised Rani Mukerji to shed a few pounds during a shoot in Mauritius. He mentioned, "So just lose some weight because you have to wear it." Rani assuredly agreed to lose around 4-5 kilos, but things didn't quite go as planned. Johar mentioned his surprise at her wearing a short orange skirt, given the circumstances. He also mentioned that he and Manish Malhotra took measures to ensure Mukerji had limited access to food, even intercepting her plate during meal times.
Rani Mukerji, alongside Kajol, disclosed why their relationship wasn't too close despite growing up cousins together. Mukerji expressed that Kajol had always been like an elder sister to her, and as they grew older, a slight distance developed between them without a clear reason. However, after their fathers passed away, they found solace in each other during a time of shared grief, allowing them to connect deeply and bridge the gap that had grown between them.
Kajol said, "Nothing really like that. It was just an organic distance. Where work is concerned it’s more that both of us liked where we were." Mukerji added, "Because I have known her as a kid and she was Kajol didi for me and it was a bit strange. I guess when you grow apart you really don’t know the reason why because you don’t meet that often because Kajol didi used to stay in town and we were in Juhu. Me and Tanisha were much closer and we are still. But Kajol didi was always closer to the boys of the family. So, it was a bit strange."
The rapid-fire round during the show was a laugh riot, from struggling to guess each other's movie cameos to playfully silencing the host. Despite both Kajol and Rani Mukerji performing "horribly," Mukerji emerged as the winner after a tie-breaker question, adding to the fun of the episode.
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of their movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, a special video featuring social media influencers was presented to Kajol and Rani Mukerji. These influencers added a twist to the original storyline, offering alternate endings, such as a murder mystery and a polyamorous relationship. Catch all the entertainment in the full episode!
