According to a Variety exclusive, Disney+'s Princess and The Frog spinoff, "Tiana" will have Joyce Sherri as the lead writer and director on the project. Set to release in 2024, the series is a sequel to 2009's The Princess And The Frog.
Sherri, who has experience in writing and directing short films, recently won the 2020 Slamdance screenplay competition for her feature, “Sweet Sixteen,” and was selected for the 2021 Sundance Institute Screenwriters Intensive, according to Variety.

Who Is Joyce Sherri?
Born in 1985 in Virginia, Joyce Sherri started her film writing career in New York, where, in 2011, she was accepted into the Graduate Film program at (NYU) New York University, according to IMDb. With her incredible passion and talent for creative writing, she went on to work on several projects, being both writer and director for short films such as Beauty, Forever, Down, Baby and The Family Romance. According to Variety, her most recent writing credit was on the Netflix horror miniseries Midnight Mass by Mike Flanagan.

Originally slated for a 2023 release, Disney+ Hotstar's The Princess And The Frog spinoff, Tiana, will debut in 2024, with Anika Noni Rose reprising her role as Disney's Princess Tiana once more. According to Variety, the series is a sequel to the 2009 Disney film and will pick up from where the movie left off.
Sherri's new role as director and lead writer for the project has received a positive reaction on social media, where many users expressed their excitement for the series yet to come.
