John Abraham tests COVID positive: Actor John Abraham and his wife Priya Runchal have tested positive for COVID-19. The news was shared by Abraham on social media. He further revealed that both he and his wife are fully vaccinated and only have mild symptoms.
In an Instagram story shared on January 3, Abraham wrote, "I came in contact 3 days ago with someone who I later learned had COVID. Priya & I have tested positive for COVID." Abraham further wrote that both of them have been quarantined at home so haven't been in contact with anyone else. "We are both vaccinated & experiencing mild symptoms. Please stay well and healthy. Masks up."
On Monday, India reported 33, 750 new cases 0f COVID-19 alongside 123 deaths due to the disease, in the last 24 hours. The recent spike in cases comes alongside the global spread of a new coronavirus variant called Omicron- which has sparked concerns due to its high infection rate and the ability to escape immune system that has been boosted by vaccination or previous infections.

Many Bollywood celebrities have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last few weeks. Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan and Amrita Arora tested positive for the disease on December 13, 2021. The actor had reportedly attended a party ad filmmaker Karan Johar's house on December 8, after which many guests present at his house tested positive for the disease, including designer Seema Khan. On December 29, actor Arjun Kapoor tested positive for COVID-19 following which his sibling Anshula Kapoor and cousin Rhea Kapoor too tested positive for coronavirus. Rhea Kapoor's husband Karan Boolani caught the infection as well. Then on January 2, actor Mrunal Thakur, soon to be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor in the upcoming film Jersey, took to social media that she had tested COVID positive. The actor wrote in her Instagram story that she was experiencing mild symptoms and had isolated herself. Thakur also asked anyone who had come in contact with her to get tested as well.
Legendary footballer Lionel Messi too recently tested positive for the virus. Three other team members of Paris Saint-Germain football club, of which Messi is a part, have tested positive.
