Divorce is always a tough decision for women as they fear the endless trauma and judgement they will get from society. This situation becomes even more severe when you belong to the entertainment industry. The life of actors are largely public and everything about their divorce is scrutinised. It is especially difficult for female actors as they become the subject of all misogynist comments and hate which affects their mental health and professional life as well.
One such couple that faced the obsession of the audience with celebrity relations and divorce was Jennifer Winget and Karan Singh Grover. They were one of the most celebrated TV couples after the huge success of the 2007 TV show Dill Mill Gaye.
They got close on the sets of the show after which they started dating and eventually got married on April 9, 2012. However, the marriage didn't last long as only after 2 years of marriage, did the couple file for divorce in 2014.
Jennifer Winget On Divorce
Jennifer Winget has rarely talked about her marriage or divorce with Karan Singh Grover and has refrained from entertaining any references to the actor to date. However, in a recent interview, she finally got candid about how she felt after her divorce. She talked about the stress that comes with being a reel-turned-real couple as your personal life is largely public and your separation comes with a lot of criticism. The same happened with Jennifer and Karan. People were talking about all sorts of things about them and they could not do anything about it.
The couple was not even on social media to clarify their stand on the matter and they had zero privacy in a personal matter such as divorce. The insensitive remarks of the society cause incurable damage to the mental health of the divorcee and that is what happened to Jennifer as well.
She reportedly said, "That period was very stressful. I was lost and didn’t know what was happening. I went back into my shell and work helped me to come back with this energy" However, despite all the stress and backlash, she now feels that the phase was actually beneficial for her as it helped her explore a new side of her and become stronger.
Jennifer believes that her tough phase transformed her into Jennifer 2.0, a better version of herself both, personally and professionally. On the work front, Jennifer's Code M season 2 was released on Voot Select on June 9, 2022, and the first few reviews of the show seem positive.
