The film which revolves around cricket has been produced by Dharma Productions. For the annpincement of the film in 2022, the official handle of Dharma Productions posted the video on Twitter. The caption read, "It takes a partnership of the hearts to achieve a dream! Presenting #MrAndMrsMahi, a match made for the winning streak! Coming to cinemas near you on 7th October, 2022.” Sharan Sharma who directed The Kargil and Gunjan Saxena has directed the upcoming film.
Mr. & Mrs. Mahi represents the second project featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao working together, following their collaboration in the horror comedy Roohi. Initially planned for release in 2022 and then rescheduled for April 2024, this sports drama is now set to premiere in cinemas on May 31, 2024.
Kapoor also has Ulajh and her Telugu debut in Jr NTR's upcoming action-thriller Devara: Part 1 in the works. Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao's film Shrikanth has been receiving positive responses in India.
