Nushrratt Bharuccha Starrer Janhit Mein Jaari To Challenge Condom Stigma

Janhit Mein Jaari trailer was released today and needless to say, Nushrratt Bharuccha seems promising in the role of salesgirl and advocate for the use of condoms. The Hindi film will be released on June 10 this year. But before that, the makers have released the trailer of the film today and created an extra hype on what to expect from the brilliantly different plot.

Hindi cinema has always grown in phases and parts with occasionally introducing uncomfortable subjects in hilarious highlights. From Vicky Donor to Badhai Do to Padman, talks about elder woman's pregnancy, the use of sanitary napkins same-sex love, topics of taboo has made their niche in Hindi cinema.

Similarly, Janhit Mein Jaari will start a discussion on another taboo topic in India, which is condoms. The film will not show a girl braving stares and asking for a box of condoms but will take the narrative a step forward and will show a girl selling boxes of it to the general public.

Janhit Mein Jaari Trailer

Based in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the film follows the journey of a young activist, played by Bharuccha. The trailer opens with her being offered a Rs 40,000 monthly job as a salesgirl for a condom manufacturing company. The head, himself is awkward about talking about the product. The protagonist is enraged by this shyness and decides to take matters into her hand.

However, the trailer shows that the film is not just about her being a salesgirl, like most Bollywood films, it is tied to romance. The protagonist falls in love and marries a younger man, whose family knows that she works at a company which manufactures umbrellas, another nickname for condoms.

After they come to know about her real profession they question the boy about it and ask him about other secrets that he has hidden. To which he discloses about the age gap and occasionally drinking "strong" beer with his wife. The plot grows and the protagonist matures. By the end of the trailer, she is shown advocating the usage of condoms and saying that for women, condoms are a need. Here she is talking about the deaths of women due to illegal abortion.

The film is directed by Jai Basantu Singh. It is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali and Vishal Gurnani, amongst others. Watch the trailer here.
