The pre-wedding celebrations have kicked off for Ira Khan, mental health activist and the daughter of Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, who is set to marry her fiancé, Nupur Shikhare, on January 3, 2024.

Earlier, Khan donned the attire of a Marathi bride-to-be, dressed in a vibrant red saree and adorned with floral jewellery. She has posted a series of behind-the-scenes photos from a pre-wedding ceremony, highlighting the collaborative effort of women from both sides of the family who came together to help her prepare. In the pictures, you can spot her mom, and her fiancé sharing in the celebration.
On her Instagram Stories, she initially provided a sneak peek of her appearance for the day. She also posted a photo of herself sharing a kiss with Shikhare, who was dressed in a yellow kurta pyjama for the occasion.
In anticipation of the momentous occasion, the families initiated the festivities with the traditional Kelvan ceremony. Ira Khan shared a series of photos from her Kelvan ceremony on her Instagram account. The event was attended by both families and some close friends of Ira and Nupur. For this special occasion, Khan donned a saree paired with a traditional Maharashtrian-style nose ring called Peshwai nath, while Shikhare opted for a traditional look.
In the first picture, she is candidly looking at him, who appears to be about to feed her with a spoon. A plate full of food, surrounded by flowers and candles, is also visible. This was followed by a short video in which she feeds him. She speaks in Marathi before feeding him, earning appreciation from everyone present.
The post also included several group photos of the soon-to-be bride and groom with their guests, including Khan’s friends Mithila Palkar and Zayn Marie Khan. Reena Dutta, dressed in a red saree, also joined the celebration.
