As the wedding date of Ira Khan, daughter of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta fast approaches, traditional pre-wedding ceremonies commenced earlier today with the joyous haldi ceremony. Take a look at glimpses of the wedding festivities through the shared photos.

Actor Mithila Palkar also posted pictures with the engaged couple and she wrote, "Let's get you guys married." Another caption on the pictures read, "The wedding festivities have begun.”

The pre-wedding celebrations have kicked off for Ira Khan, mental health activist and the daughter of Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, who is set to marry her fiancé, Nupur Shikhare, on January 3, 2024.

Earlier, Khan donned the attire of a Marathi bride-to-be, dressed in a vibrant red saree and adorned with floral jewellery. She has posted a series of behind-the-scenes photos from a pre-wedding ceremony, highlighting the collaborative effort of women from both sides of the family who came together to help her prepare. In the pictures, you can spot her mom, and her fiancé sharing in the celebration.

On her Instagram Stories, she initially provided a sneak peek of her appearance for the day. She also posted a photo of herself sharing a kiss with Shikhare, who was dressed in a yellow kurta pyjama for the occasion.

In anticipation of the momentous occasion, the families initiated the festivities with the traditional Kelvan ceremony. Ira Khan shared a series of photos from her Kelvan ceremony on her Instagram account. The event was attended by both families and some close friends of Ira and Nupur. For this special occasion, Khan donned a saree paired with a traditional Maharashtrian-style nose ring called Peshwai nath, while Shikhare opted for a traditional look.

In the first picture, she is candidly looking at him, who appears to be about to feed her with a spoon. A plate full of food, surrounded by flowers and candles, is also visible. This was followed by a short video in which she feeds him. She speaks in Marathi before feeding him, earning appreciation from everyone present.

The post also included several group photos of the soon-to-be bride and groom with their guests, including Khan’s friends Mithila Palkar and Zayn Marie Khan. Reena Dutta, dressed in a red saree, also joined the celebration.

The Kelvan ceremony signifies the commencement of pre-wedding festivities, during which the families of the bride and groom invite each other. They come together for a meal and exchange gifts.

Ira and Nupur got engaged the previous year and later hosted an engagement party for their family and friends in Mumbai. Aamir Khan had previously disclosed that Ira's wedding was scheduled for January 3.

The couple has reportedly arranged an extravagant three-day wedding celebration in Udaipur, with close friends and extended family set to participate in the festivities. The event is anticipated to be an intimate gathering, excluding any attendees from the film industry.
