Inventing Anna creator Shonda Rhimes addressed the fact about some parts of the series being made up for entertainment purposes.
Netflix's popular miniseries, Inventing Anna, based on the life story of con artist Anna Sorokin was a nail-biting experience that captured the seemingly unbelievable real life stunts and frauds of the German heiress.
The show features a journalist who decides to investigate the case of Anna Sorokin posing to be a Russian-German heiress and entrepreneur, who conned several New York elites out of their wits and money during the 2013-2017 period. She was convicted and imprisoned for fraud of nearly $275,000 from US banks, hotels, financial institutions and acquaintances.
Inventing Anna Facts:
Shonda Rhimes, the creator of the Netflix drama miniseries Inventing Anna , had admitted that some parts of the series were made up and explained why it was so. The series based on the real life of Anna Sorokin was released worldwide on February 11, 2022. Since its release, the series has left fans bewildered and wondering about what is real and what is fiction. Talking about it, Shonda reportedly said that there were things that weren't true but they encompassed 'the essence of who Anna is'.
Shonda also said that the making of the series was challenging as they required a researcher who has studied every event that happened in the case in a detailed manner.
Since the show was entirely based on facts, it was important that they were on the right track about things and to understand to what extent they can tweak the things up. Hence, she called the made up parts of the series as intended fiction that was planned and calculative.
The Netflix series starring Julia Garner, Anna Chlumsky, Katie Lowes and Anders Holms was the point of view of the journalist who investigated the case of Anna Delvey. She was convicted to grand larceny in 2019 by New York State Court and imprisoned for 4-12 years.
