Indian television offers a wide variety of shows, from quirky to romantic to household. However, it's common to use words like outdated, clichéd, stereotypical, unrelatable and repetitive to describe Indian TV serials and the dominant female characters in them. Indian TV is continuously making an effort to introduce more relevant content to the audiences. There are many different narratives in television serials—romantic, saas-bahu, inspirational, and even horror—but none of them can be found without a mother figure.
There have recently been a few new television shows with mothers who don't let their children treat them insensitively only because they are uneducated or unemployed. They are strong mothers who are good at persuading their children that they are deserving of every bit of affection and respect from them. Their parenting is different; they know how to guide their children in the proper direction while having fun with them. For the needs of their children, they are not reliant on their spouses or partners. Here we have compiled a list of a few serials with such mother figures.
