Indian Matchmaking’s Aparna Launches Memoir On Being "The Unlikeable One"

Indian Matchmaking Aparna launches memoir: Aparna Shewakramani, who became an overnight sensation with her appearance on the show Indian Matchmaking, is coming out with a memoir titled She's Unlikeable: And Other Lies That Bring Women Down. The book will be launched in early 2022 and is available for pre-order now. Taking to her Instagram handle, Shewakramani shared the news about her memoir, writing, "This is my reveal, friends."

She shared the announcement alongside a photo of herself posing in front of a mirror and putting on lipstick. "There are no balloons with pink or blue confetti but make no mistake, this is my baby! (sic)," she wrote in the caption of the post. The book will be about the controversial show — from casting, to taping, to how her life changed after its airing — and about her real life, which is apparently way different than how it was portrayed on Indian Matchmaking.

Who is Aparna Shewakramani?

Shewakramani, a 35-year-old passionate lawyer, immigrated from India at the age of seven with her sister and single mother, grew up in Bellaire, and attended Rice University and Vanderbilt Law. She was criticised for her "attitude" on the show and many dubbed her as the most unlikable participant on the popular Netflix series.

She had earlier said that her portrayal on the show isn't accurate. Her mother was forced into her marriage, which then she was divorced. Now, the mother-daughter duo doesn't want to settle for anything less. She said that everyone will get to know about her real self a little more in her book.

Since the reality television documentary format of the Indian-American show Indian Matchmaking was released last year, many made memes on her. The contest also developed a following of her own and many people sent Shewakramani private messages of admiration and appreciation for being herself and for being outspoken about her requirements for a suitable match. Shewakramani is currently living in Houston. An avid traveler, she also runs a travel company, My Golden Balloon.
