Razia Sultan
Starring dream-girl Hema Malini in the 1983 biographical film, Razia Sultan revolves around the story of the first and only female ruler of Delhi Sultanate who unfortunately loses her kingdom to Jamal-ud-Din Yakut, an Abyssinian slave as she falls in love with him. However, the film did not do so well as it could have focussed more on Razia Sultan for her bravery in defying all odds to become the ruler than her alleged affair with the slave. The film is directed by Kamal Amrohi.
The Warrior Queen of Jhansi
Written and directed by Swati Bhise, The Warrior Queen of Jhansi is a 2019 film based on the real-life story of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi who led her army against the British colonial rule during the revolt of 1857. The film features actor Devika Bhise as Rani Lakshmibai, Jodhi May as Queen Victoria and Rupert Everett as Sir Hugh Rose among others.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi
Star and director Kangana Ranaut is seen as Manikarnika, also known as Rani Lakshmibai, in this 2019 biographical film which follows the struggle of the Queen of Jhansi against the oppressive British domination which attempts to conquer the kingdom of Jhansi since it has no biological heir to claim the succession of king Gangadhar Rao.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani features actor Deepika Padukone as Mastani, the princess of Bundelkhand who is as fierce as a woman as beautiful she is. She is seen fighting against the intruders alongside Bajirao as the film around their love saga.
Jodha Bai in Jodhaa Akbar
Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan served justice to the role of princess of Amer, Jodha Bai. She is seen displaying her skills as a warrior in various instances of the film. In one of the scenes, Jodha Bai challenges husband Emperor Akbar in sword-fighting before she accepts to return back with him.
Kaurwaki in Asoka
While the film Asoka was all about the Mauryan ruler Ashoka, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s portrayal of Kaurwaki in the film is unmissable. She battled the Ashokan armies fiercely as the princess of Kalinga when the emperor declared war on the kingdom in order to capture it. The film Asoka is directed by Santosh Sivan.

Rani Padmavati in Padmaavat
Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone), also known as Rani Padmini married the king of Chittor (Shahid Kapoor) after he fell in love with the princess of Singhal kingdom in Sri Lanka. While the praises of her beauty travelled across nations, she was also known as a warrior queen who defeated many princes according to some legends.
