The 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) paid homage to Irrfan Khan on Friday by screening his cult classic Paan Singh Tomar. Khan’s son Babil Khan and wife Sutapa Sikdar attended the event. The late actor’s son Babil Khan posted his pictures from the film festival with mom Sutapa Sikdar. The festival is taking place in Goa.
Babil Khan posted two posts from the film festival. In the first photo of the post Babil Khan and Sutapa Sikdar were seen standing in front of the IFFI poster, the second and third ones had Khan’s family members on the stage from the felicitation ceremony. Babil captioned the first post as, "Beautiful catharsis at @iffigoa #IFFI2021 #iffi2021 (sic)."
In the second post, he shared snippets from his father’s iconic movie, Paan Singh Tomar which was screened today at the film festival. He wrote a nostalgic caption- “Today, I need to share this as IIFI Goa made it possible to watch and hear him on the big screen one more time, that too in Paan Singh Tomar. (This man exuded a younger energy than me in his late 40s even).
On stage, the late actor’s wife Sutapa also shared their love story and life’s journey.
Moreover, the IFFI film festival paid homage to actors such as Rishi Kapoor, Soumitra Chatterjee, Sushant Singh Rajput, and Chadwick Boseman by screening their movies Bobby, Charulata, Kedarnath, and 42, respectively.
Khan died last year on April 29 after battling cancer for two years. He was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 following which he flew off to London for treatment. He returned back to India in 2019 and even completed his shoot for Angrezi Medium. The late actor is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and two sons, Babil and Ayan. Babil is soon going to make his acting debut soon post his graduation.
