I am Groot Release Date Announced: The Wait's Over

I Am Groot poster confirmed that the series will premiere on the streaming platform Disney+Hotstar on August 10. The series as suggested by the title, spotlights Groot, the floral colossus of the Guardians of the Galaxy, in his baby form. The series is the culmination of shorts that see Baby Groot getting into and out of trouble. Vin Diesel returns to the series as the voice of Groot and James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy acts as one of the show's executive producers.

Director Gunn explained that the whole point of this series is to explore more on the character of Groot. Groot feels like a very small part of Guardians of the Galaxy overshadowed by other characters. And Groot's character is pretty much forgotten.

James Gunn revealed that Groot has potential and a story worth telling stating- "Now everyone knows Groot so well that we have much larger awareness, me and the cast, of a baby Groot being there at all times. And him being one of the members in the scene...I think he's a better-written character than the first Groot in some ways. Not that he was poorly written at all, but I think he's just a more complete character."

I Am Groot was first announced at Disney's Investor Day 2020. This series will also act as the story leading up and pushing the audience towards Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, along with The Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special prior to the release of Volume 3, which is set to be released in theaters on May 5, 2023. This series is expected to create eagerness in the audience and promote Vol3 releasing next year in May. I am Groot will be available to watch on Disney+Hotstar, from August 10, 2022.
