Announcement of the series
Amazon Prime Video today announced the release of the highly anticipated drama thriller. The producers had made a special statement about the drama series on International Women’s Day earlier this year. The announcement was made by Prime Video's official YouTube channel in a video featuring all its six female actors.
Hush Hush revolves around a group of women whose lives begin to unravel when an event discloses past secrets and jeopardises their situations. Each episode is set to portray the protagonists' hardships, their fight against power, and how they survive in a male-dominated society. To symbolise their existence in the series, the all-female star ensemble used terms like Survival, Deceit, Society, Lies, Family, Passion, Power, Anger, Friends, and Many Many Secrets.
Cast and Crew
Juhi Chawla and Ayesha Jhulka, both award-winning veteran actors, will make their digital debuts with the series. The series also stars Shahana Goswami, Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra, and Karishma Tanna, all known for their versatile roles across television and OTT platforms.
Filmmaker Tanuja Chandara is the series' creative director and executive producer. Kopal Nathani has directed some episodes of the show alongside Chandra. Sikhaa Sharma serves as the series' executive producer and original narrative writer. The screenplay is helmed by Ashish Mehta, and the dialogue is written by National award-winning playwright Juhi Chaturvedi, known for films like Piku and Gulabo Sitabo.
According to Aparna Purohit, Prime Video's Head of India Originals, the streaming platform is looking forward to collaborating with Abundantia Productions to produce a story that elevates female voices in both fiction and reality. As per Purohit, women comprise about half of the population, but there aren't enough stories produced by or from their perspectives. With Hush Hush, Prime Video vouches for its aim to give a voice to diverse, honest, and modern female stories.
The makers are convinced that Hush Hush will help set a new bar when it comes to amplifying the voices of women.
