The makers released the film’s trailer  last week and it promises to be a hard-hitting tale about breaking stereotypes.

Rashmi Rocket is the story of an athlete from the villages of India who dreams of representing the country at the world stage. The sprinter gets success as a sportsperson but also comes face to face with exploitation. The film touches upon the unacceptable behaviour female athletes have to face in the name of gender testing.

From the trailer, it looks like her body type fails to fall under the conventional feminine parameters. She is banned from the sport as she is declared ‘not a woman’. She fights with the authorities to regain her respect and get her life back on track.

Pannu's hard work to gain an athletic body, and learn the mannerism and on-field actions have already grabbed the attention of the viewers.  Priyanshu Painyuli is seen as Pannu's love interest and plays the army man and Abhishek Banerjee is seen as  a lawyer in the trailer.

The film is directed by Akarsh Khurana, and apart from having Pannu in the titular role it has Supriya Pathak, Priyanshu Painyuli and Abhishek Banerjee.

Sprinter Dutee Chand was banned and dropped from India’s Commonwealth and Asian Games in 2014 on grounds of hyperandrogenism. It is a condition where the female body produces more testosterone. She is a double silver medallist at the Asian Games and India’s National record-holder in 100 m. However, this Rashmi's story is not based on her life.

Rashmi Rocket will premiere on ZEE5 on October 15. You can watch the trailer here:
