Speculations are rife that How I Met Your Father New Season Release Date will be announced soon and the fans are anticipating the series' return. The show is a spin-off to the classic sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Hillary Duff features in the role of Sophie who narrates to her son, as Ted Mosby did to his child, about how she met his father.
The spin-off follows the life of Sophie, a New York-based photographer on a journey to find her soulmate. Following her and her group of friends and their life as they date around in the city and bond together, In season 1 Sophie is seen telling her son how she met his father in January 2021, fell in love, and had him.
The show HIMYF also featured many shout-outs to the HIMYM cast, including Lily, Ted and Marshall’s apartment where Sid lives now. Kyle MacLachlan as the character of The Captain returned to the show along with a special cameo of Cobie Smoulders as the iconic Robin Scherbatsky.

How I Met Your Father season 1 explores falling in love in the new era of dating apps and unlimited options. The storyline is set in 2021, with Sophie and her group of friends going through the journey of life figuring out themselves and relationships as they go. Duff took on multiple roles being the lead actor as well as one of the producers on the show.
Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger served as writers and executive producers on this news series, along with “How I Met Your Mother” creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas and Adam Londy as executive producers. 20th Television will be produced the new series, much like HIMYM
Talking about the character Sophie, in an interview, Duff had stated- “I got a call from my manager saying that there was this project that they wanted to chat with me about. Then I heard the title and I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? What?!’ The original show is so, so beloved and was just so spot-on perfect, that I’m like, ‘Ohh, I don’t wanna do a reboot.’"
Duff then said that she was also nervous since she had never done a multi-cam but reading the script changed her mind. "I was a little bit nervous about the sitcom of it all because I’ve never done multi-cam, but I read the script and it was just everything you want a comedy to be. There were lighthearted moments, but there funny moments and it was a little dirty at times. It was just perfect," she spoke.
The cast will most likely return to the new season including, Hilary Duff is the lead as Sophie. Valentina is played by Francia Raisa, Chris Lowell plays the friend Jesse, Tom Ainsley is Charlie, the British boyfriend of Valentina, Suraj Sharma as Sid the owner of Pemberton, Tien Tran for Ellen, and Josh Peck plays Drew, the love interest of Sophie and Leighton Meester as Meredith.
How I Met Your Father New Season Release Date: When and Where To Watch
How I Met Your Father was renewed for a new season on February 15, 2022, through an announcement made on Twitter. It was also confirmed that Season 2 will have a total of 20 episodes. However, no release date has been officially announced yet but it will most likely be aired on Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN much like the previous season. For now, season 1 is available to watch on Hulu and Disney+ to keep you all updated and ready to binge on season 2 when it arrives.
