Deshmukh wrote, "Just saw 2 episodes of Heeramandi, and it has me craving for more. What a world, what a journey you take us through, Sanjay Sir. Mesmerized as always. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's series showcases Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal portraying tawaifs in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement in the 1940s. The cast also includes Adhyayan Suman, Shekhar Suman, Vaishnavi Ganatra, and Farida Jalal, among others.

The series, set against the backdrop of a bustling diamond bazaar, explores the lives of women navigating the complexities of a patriarchal society.
