The actor has been making headlines on social media towards her replies on trolls related to her marriage with Vaibhav Rekhi and pregnancy.
As Dia Mirza celebrates her 40th birthday on December 9, we look at her recent takes on motherhood, her work being ambassador to environmental cause, and her life decisions. She was married to Vaibhav Rekhi in a close knit ceremony in Mumbai in February, 2021.
Dia Mirza On Motherhood:
The former Miss India Dia Mirza, embraced motherhood in May this year with arrival of her son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi. After a tumultuous period she witnessed in her pregnancy, she felt the need of thanking her fans and followers who were concerned towards her well being. She thanked the doctors and nurses of taking good care of her baby in the neonatal ICU.
The sudden appendectomy and severe bacterial infection could have led to sepsis and proven to be life threatening as well. But the timely care and intervention by doctors ensured safe birth of their baby Avyaan via an emergency C section, Dia wrote.
Dia got married to entrepreneur Vaibhav Rekhi on February 15, 2021 and announced her pregnancy in April 2021 through her social media posts. The posts showed her carrying her baby bump gracefully with the background of setting sun and ocean of Maldives and she wrote "Blessed to be One With Mother Earth". However, she was brutally trolled for announcing her pregnancy within months of her second marriage.
Some of the users wrote "she insisted her boyfriend to get married only after knowing that she was pregnant", "speed of pregnancy" and many hateful things
How she takes up on the trolls:
Dia Mirza calmly hit back at the trolls through her reply, "We discovered we were going to have a baby while we were planning our wedding. So this marriage is not the result of pregnancy. There must never be any shame attached to this beautiful journey, As women we must always exercise our choice".
Her stance on making her own choice is something all women feel empowered with. Mirza has been an example towards not taking the social media trolls too seriously, but speaking up for the cause at the right time and living the way we want to.
The Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mai actor, has always been vocal on the cause of women and her struggles in achieving the title of a beauty pageant.
Mirza is champion of climate cause and has been appointed by United Nations(UN) as Environment Goodwill Ambassador and UN Secretary General Advocate for Sustainable Development Goal.
Recent Projects:
On work front, she turned heads with her recent cameo in Netflix show Call My Agent Bollywood, where she was seen portraying herself and her take on being herself rather than succumbing to the entertainment industry's demands of constant changes needed in senior female actors.
She was also applauded for her modern and independent single mother portrayal in Thappad movie. As RHTDM completed 20 years this year, Dia shared the post of her debut movie and her followers went nostalgic. Few of them wrote, "Best Movie in Bollywood", "Dia, u will always be a heartthrob", "Your entry scene". Dia Mirza was also awarded Best Actor Female (Critcs) for her OTT role in Kaafir.
